Chi hair products in my opinion are easy to use, effective products.

Colour:
Chi’s colour range is an ammonia free product which ultimately is healthier for your hair.  Your hair structure has approximately 19 to 20 amino acids and while your colour is developing it is actually replenishing your natural hair oils. If ever you are trying to achieve a blonde colour using a bleach but dont want breakage maybe try using Chi’s high lift range.

Guys:
If you are a guy who likes to have an extreme style then Chi is the product for you. To achieve an extreme style follow these steps:
1.Wash your hair with Chi’s Clean Start twice and then condition.
2. Blow dry your and try to keep it smooth. If you are worried about heat damage then add a tiny bit of thermal heat protector.
3. Section your hair with clips in an order that comfortable for you and straighten it flat.
4. Use a generous amount of Chi’s Twisted Fabric and rub between your fingers and palm of your hands.
5. Start styling from the back and work your way up. When styling the top: using your fingertips add the product to your roots as if you were washing your hair again and work your way out. This will give your hair a bit of lift and a defined look.. definitely extreme! Then just style however is comfortable for you.

Girls:
If you have long thick hair and want to achieve a fresh, clean but textured style then Chi is also a good product for you. Follow these steps to achieve an excelent style:
1. Start by washing your hair once with Clean Start and then a second shampoo with Chi’s Magnified Volume. Then condition with Magnified Volume Conditioner.
2. Blow dry the hair from roots to ends. Again if you are worried about heat damage then use a thermal heat protector.
3. Section the hair with a clip and straighten in an order comfortable for you.
4. Style your hair using Chi’s Pliable Polish on your finger tips to the roots as if you were shampooing again. This will give your roots a tiny lift. If you want this style to hold then use Chi’s Helmet Head or Magnified Volume hair sprays.

Organic lovers:
If you are like me and love anything organic then Chi will provide you with products that feel and smell fantastic. Chi has a range specifically for people who dont like styling their hair everyday. Chi Organics will give you a shampoo, conditioner, treatment, blow dry product, spritz and a before/after blow dry silk oil.

La Riche are a well established company selling a range of semi-permanent hair colourants. Directions hair dye has become VERY popular over the last few years and can now be bought from many alternative clothing and style shops. The main reasons for the products great popularity is the wide range of dramatic colours available and ease at which they can be applied.

Just take a look at these fantastic colours:

garrett ecstacy

Here we have quite an old picture of former member of Blood on the Dancefloor Garrett Ecstacy. Whilst a fairly short style, Garrett has managed to uphold the ‘alternative’ look thanks to some clever hair dyeing and styling.

The colour choice is a scene favourite, black and blonde. No two colours stand out as much as these and to have two large blond patches either side of the head has been really effective for Garrett, especially as he has textured and spread out his hair. This has blended in the two bold colours to give it a slightly more subtle appearance. Not in the spirit of alternative I hear you say?? Don’t worry, Garrett has added a little splash of pink to the top of his hair where it spikes out giving a rebellious twist to what would otherwise be a fairly smart looking hairstyle.

If you want to try this style for yourself, use a gel spray on damp hair and blow-dry giving as much volume as possible. Then run straighteners through your hair, paying particular attention to the top where it should spike out towards the side. Spray on a little more gel spray and work into shape, then if necessary, use hairspray to hold.

silk serum

Tired of trying to tame the ‘frizz’ every time you wash your hair? The style and shine range from vo5 has the answer, but I’d only recommend it for the driest of the frizz as this product is really heavy going as far as moisturisers go. To anyone who has tried it before, Silk Serum has a similar consistency and smell to Bio Oil. So as you can imagine it would be quite easy to overdo it and apply too much. The trick with Silk Serum is to use a very small amount sparingly, applying to damp hair at the ends and mid-lengths.

Silk Serum contains ’shine boosters’ which enhance the hair’s natural glow. This can be really helpful for those who have perhaps dyed their hair to the extent where it has become dull and brittle looking. If you need to really boost the moisturising effect of Silk Serum, try applying it to dry hair. However, make sure you spread it evenly over your palms to avoid an uneven spread through your hair.

You can buy Silk Serum from most good hair product shops such as Boots and Superdrug for around £4.00. The tube is only small but considering how far it goes, this is quite good value for money. If you decide to try it out, let us know what you think of it!

The ingenious formula contains a cocktail of natural extracts and proteins which are absorbed into the hair, increasing the diameter of each strand resulting in a thicker, fuller looking style!

The product is very simple to use, you just spread a generous amount through dry or towel dried hair and work into your desired style. For extra hold you may want to use Samy Amplifying Hairspray afterward.

Here James has opted for the high contrast black and white colours, which ensures he really stands out in a crowd. The style is matched with checkered wristbands, which adds much more to the look. James has bleached a very large proportion of his hair on the top and a large part of his fringe so that it stands separate to the subtle black fringe underneath. This greatly adds to both the texture and the thickness of his hair.

To create the spikes, James starts with wet hair. He spreads a generous amount of gel through it and then forms the spikes or sculpts it into shape. He then blow dries it, adding more gel if required. To hold everything in place he finishes it off with a blast of hairspray.

 I’m sure you’ll agree that Sophie has created a really intense and dramatic style with the spikes, layers and the use of blended multiple colours. Here is the lowdown on this brilliant style:

• First, straighten it all through until bang straight (necessary for the spikes)
• Then, spray Vo5 Mega Hold liquid hairspray all over and brush it though
• Put on the bandana
• Take the hair from behind the bandana and then tease up the hair from the roots using a nit comb
• Quickly spray the spikes until they stand firmly on end

Sophie’s advice:

Most people use teasing combs, but I use nit combs as they are much much smaller and make teasing hair a lot quicker and easier. Also, I never use straighteners after using hairspray as it burns the ends of the hair.

Gemma has medium length hair with huge volume, thanks to some serious backcombing. Gemma has dyed the underpart of her straight-cut fringe red, completing the look with a red headband and bow.

First she straightens her hair through, followed by a blast of Shockwaves hairspray and a good combing. A further blast fixes her hair into position. The accessories really finish the style off well, separating the messed-up back from the bang-straight front.

My Passion are a four piece dance punk group from Hertfordshire, England. Their personality is captured by their performance and by their impressive hairstyles!

These styles would be great for anyone wanting that Scene look without having to grow their hair as all the members have short hair. Simon has very short hair on top, with medium length side bangs. John has the most intense look about him, with the thick black eye-liner contrasting with his blonde hair. While Laurence has a more Emo look with the thick, straight black fringe.
